01Check every stage from inlet to point of use
An on-site gas system may include air compression, drying and filtration, adsorption separation, gas buffering and distribution. For each stage, identify the supplier, the connection point and the delivery boundary. An existing compressor may be available, but its spare capacity, air quality and operating pattern still need to be checked against the additional generator load.
02List the items that are easy to overlook
Attach a scope checklist to each quotation. Check interconnecting pipework, valve assemblies, online analyzers, commissioning consumables, transport, unloading, foundations and electrical work. State whether installation and training are included in the same contract, and schedule work that requires production to stop. Assign a named owner to each interface and record the drawing revision accepted by both parties. This makes it easier to distinguish a genuine price difference from an omitted item or a different service scope.
- Physical boundary: equipment outlet, plant-room outlet or production-line connection.
- Document boundary: layout drawings, interface schedule, instrument list, operating documents and acceptance records.
