01Show the usable space, not only the floor dimensions
A plan showing length and width does not fully describe an installation location. Include clear height, door openings, the handling route, foundation conditions and photographs of surrounding obstructions. Mark the proposed equipment positions. If the system is entering an existing plant room, show current machines, pipework, maintenance access and normal walking routes on the same drawing so the usable space can be assessed.
02Plan for both operation and maintenance
Available electrical capacity, ventilation, changes in ambient temperature, drainage, noise restrictions and pipe connections can all affect the layout. Identify which work may proceed during production, which connections require a shutdown and who will coordinate that window. Avoid fixing foundation or pipe locations before the model and installation documents are confirmed. A useful survey produces an agreed record of measured conditions, missing information and the person responsible for each follow-up item.
- Prepare six groups of information: space, handling, foundations, electrical supply, ventilation and interfaces.
- Include maintenance access, construction restrictions and a site contact.
