Management checks before connecting a backup cylinder supply

Treat the backup manifold as an engineered gas-supply interface.

01Confirm the intended service

Verify gas identity, quality, delivery pressure and required flow with qualified personnel. Review the manifold, regulators and downstream components for the actual gas duty. Oxygen-service suitability and cleanliness require specific attention.

02Plan storage and handling

Use the applicable site and supplier requirements for cylinder storage, securing, identification and handling. Keep full, in-use and depleted supply status clear. Consider how a delivery or cylinder change is performed without confusion about the connected gas.

03Test availability and transfer

Use an approved functional test of the complete backup arrangement. Record the available reserve and replenishment responsibility. A group of cylinders present on site is not equivalent to a verified backup supply capable of supporting the critical process.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
