01Recognize hidden consequences
A longer sample tube can delay a quality signal; a new exhaust extension can add backpressure; a partition can change ventilation. These may look minor compared with replacing a generator, yet each can alter performance or safety assumptions.
02Use a proportionate review
Describe the proposed change, affected drawings, operating conditions and possible consequences. Involve the relevant equipment supplier and qualified site personnel. Define the verification and documentation needed before approving the modification.
03Update the installed record
After implementation, test the affected functions and revise drawings, settings and operating instructions. Tell the people who operate or maintain the system what changed. A modification is not fully closed when the physical work is finished but the controlled records still describe the old arrangement.
