Connecting oxygen generation to glass and furnace combustion systems

The combustion designer must define the oxygen-supply requirements.

01Start with the burner system

Provide the furnace duty and intended oxygen-enrichment or oxy-fuel arrangement to qualified combustion specialists. Oxygen concentration, pressure stability and demand response can affect the burner design. A generator's rated output is not sufficient to establish combustion compatibility.

02Coordinate controls and safeguards

Define which system requests oxygen, confirms availability and responds to a supply disturbance. Review the oxygen-service components and cleanliness requirements. Changes in fuel-to-oxygen control or burner operation belong to the approved combustion engineering process.

03Verify under the agreed load

Accept the oxygen package at its delivery boundary and validate furnace operation through the combustion commissioning plan. Include relevant load changes and backup behaviour. Avoid claiming a fuel-saving or quality improvement without the site's measured comparison and clearly stated conditions.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
