01Identify the process duty
Provide material, treatment objective, temperature programme and furnace type to the qualified process specialist. Nitrogen may be one part of an atmosphere strategy; suitability cannot be concluded from the word protective alone. Different materials can respond differently to the same gas.
02Define quality and load
State the required limits for oxygen, moisture and other relevant constituents. Record charging, purging and holding phases separately because they can have different demand. The furnace supplier should confirm the gas interface and control requirements.
03Validate the product outcome
Accept the gas system against its delivery specification and the heat-treatment process against its own metallurgical criteria. Do not use a generator purity test as evidence of surface quality or material properties. Keep the process operating window and gas-quality records together for troubleshooting.
