01Use more than a colour
Apply the site's required pipe identification, flow direction and equipment tags. Keep names consistent across drawings, valves, instruments and operating instructions. Colours can be misunderstood or obscured, so the gas identity and connection purpose should remain readable.
02Review temporary connections
Hoses, portable supplies and maintenance bypasses deserve particular attention. Qualified designers should consider suitable connection arrangements and measures against cross-connection. A familiar fitting is not evidence that the attached gas is correct.
03Verify after changes
Use the approved identification and commissioning checks before returning a modified branch to service. Update drawings and operator information together. When uncertainty exists about a line's contents or destination, resolve it through the site's controlled process rather than testing by smell or assumption.
