Troubleshooting / ENGINEERING NOTE

Narrowing the cause of a dew-point alarm

Separate a moisture event from a measurement-basis problem.

01Confirm the measurement basis

Record sensor location, sample pressure, displayed units and instrument status. Check whether a recent configuration change switched between pressure and atmospheric dew point. Compare only readings expressed on the same basis.

02Trace the treatment conditions

Review dryer inlet temperature and flow, regeneration status, drain behaviour and recent maintenance. A moisture spike during a high-temperature peak suggests a different investigation from a persistent abnormal value immediately after sensor work.

03Preserve quality control

Follow the approved response to unsuitable inlet or product moisture. Have qualified personnel correct the identified issue and verify the downstream condition. A cleared alarm alone does not establish that affected equipment or the process gas has returned to the required state.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
