Including desiccant-dryer regeneration in the energy comparison

Regeneration can consume compressed air, heat or both.

01Describe the regeneration method

Different desiccant-dryer designs restore drying capacity in different ways. Ask which air and electrical streams support regeneration and whether they are included in the quoted performance. A low heater rating does not by itself establish low total energy consumption.

02Use the correct operating conditions

Regeneration demand can depend on loading, control strategy and moisture conditions. Include its effect on compressor capacity and station electricity. Compare systems using the same required pressure dew point, inlet temperature, pressure and flow.

03Confirm the annual impact

Record regeneration states alongside dew point, delivered air and electricity over representative duty. Check that an apparent reduction in regeneration still maintains the required drying result. Energy optimization must retain the inlet quality needed by the gas generator.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
