01Choose the measurement boundary
Identify electricity meters and the accepted-gas delivery point. Check their units, calibration status and time synchronization. Include enough operating time to capture the normal mix of production, standby and peak-demand events.
02Record explanatory variables
Keep product quality, pressure, flow, operating hours and relevant ambient or inlet conditions with the energy data. Note outages, unusual rejects and changes in production mix. Those records distinguish a real efficiency change from a quieter production week.
03Agree the comparison method
Before making modifications, define how the baseline will be adjusted for changed output or operating conditions. Preserve raw readings and calculation versions. Report both absolute energy and a suitable normalized measure so a reduction in production is not presented as an equipment-efficiency improvement.
