01Read the reference conditions
Normal or standard volume labels are used with different conventions. State the reference temperature and absolute pressure explicitly rather than assuming every supplier uses the same definition. Clarify whether the volume is dry or includes water vapour.
02Distinguish line volume
Actual cubic metres per hour describe volume at the gas's operating conditions. That value can differ substantially from a normalized flow for the same gas quantity. Pressure stated as gauge pressure also needs conversion to the appropriate absolute basis for calculations.
03Normalize before comparing
Check compressor data, generator ratings, flow-meter settings and purchased-gas records on one agreed basis. Preserve the original values and conversion assumptions. A numerical mismatch caused by different reference conditions should be resolved before it is treated as a capacity shortfall.
