Separate rejected gas, sample flow and leaks in the gas balance

Different loss categories need different corrective actions.

01Define intentional streams

Startup rejection, quality-controlled venting and analyser sampling may be designed functions. Record their purpose, timing and estimated or measured quantities separately. Labeling every non-product stream as a leak obscures how the station actually operates.

02Locate unintended losses

Compare generation and delivery measurements where their accuracy and reference conditions allow it. Investigate unexplained differences with suitable detection methods. Consider storage pressure changes over the interval before interpreting a temporary imbalance as continuous leakage.

03Prioritize without weakening safeguards

Repeated off-specification discharge may call for a quality or control investigation; excessive sample use may call for an approved sampling review. Do not disable quality diversion or protective functions to improve a gas-balance number. Verify improvements against both useful output and the required gas quality.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
