Costs that an on-site nitrogen estimate can miss

Build the estimate around useful gas delivered over the operating year.

01Include the full station

Beyond the generator, consider compression, air treatment, storage, electrical work, pipework, instrumentation and any boosting requirement. Distinguish purchase costs from installation and commissioning. Record which items already exist and whether they have genuine spare capacity.

02Account for recurring costs

Include electricity at the expected load profile, filters, dryer service, analyser maintenance, planned labour and backup gas. Consider sampling, leaks and off-specification discharge where they affect useful output. Avoid double-counting an item included in a service contract.

03Present uncertainty visibly

Show the inputs that most influence the result, such as annual hours, quality requirement, power price and specific energy. Compare plausible scenarios rather than a single precise-looking payback figure. The calculation supports a decision; it is not a guarantee of future operating savings.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
