01Understand the pressure basis
Dew point describes the temperature at which water would begin to condense under the stated conditions. A pressure dew point measured in compressed gas is different from a reading after the sample expands to atmospheric pressure. Comparing the numbers directly can create a false alarm or a false pass.
02Document the sample arrangement
Record the measurement pressure, flow, location and any pressure reduction before the sensor. Check whether the instrument reports the measured condition or a converted value. The report should make that distinction visible rather than leaving the reader to infer it.
03Use compatible limits
Express the acceptance requirement and the measured result on the same basis. If conversion is required, use a suitable validated method with the relevant inputs. For condensation risk, also consider the coldest temperature reached by the actual pressurized pipework.
