How PSA turns compressed air into process nitrogen

Follow the separation cycle from prepared air to a controlled nitrogen outlet.

01Selective adsorption

A nitrogen PSA system uses carbon molecular sieve to separate components of compressed air. Oxygen is preferentially taken up during the working step; a second vessel regenerates as its pressure falls. The vessels alternate, so the supply depends on coordinated valves, pressure changes and buffering.

02Define the inlet

An enquiry needs more than the requested nitrogen flow. Record the available air pressure, temperature, moisture and contamination controls. A compressor nameplate does not establish the air quality delivered at the generator during simultaneous factory demand.

03Verify the outlet

Agree where flow, residual oxygen and pressure will be measured. Observe a representative operating period, including a restart and a demand change, instead of accepting a single stable display reading. Keep the inlet conditions alongside the results so a later comparison has a useful reference.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
