Investigating gas-quality oscillations synchronized with PSA switching

Use a common time base to distinguish cycle behaviour from sampling effects.

01Capture several complete cycles

Record vessel pressures, valve commands, outlet quality and flow at sufficient resolution for the switching sequence. A long averaging interval can hide the pattern. Preserve unaveraged records where available and identify the instrument response delay.

02Review the measurement path

A sample system can smooth, delay or exaggerate an apparent oscillation. Check sample pressure, flow and conditioning with the analyser supplier. Compare the timing with the process cycle before concluding that a particular valve or vessel is responsible.

03Seek a design-based correction

Give the manufacturer the synchronized data and approved settings. Cycle, buffering and valve changes should be reviewed as a system. After work, verify quality throughout repeated cycles and across the intended demand range, not only at a favourable moment.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
