01The quality and recovery relationship
Producing nitrogen with lower residual oxygen generally changes how much usable product can be recovered from a given feed. A generator's capacity therefore needs a stated outlet-quality basis. The largest number on a brochure may describe a different purity than the production line needs.
02Compare the right points
Ask each supplier for the flow available at the required residual-oxygen limit, inlet conditions and outlet pressure. Include the allowable measurement uncertainty and the treatment of startup gas. Avoid comparing one proposal's nominal purity with another proposal's guaranteed acceptance condition.
03Start with the process limit
Confirm the actual oxygen tolerance with the process owner. An unnecessarily strict requirement can increase the package and operating burden without improving the product. Where the limit remains uncertain, record it as an open item and plan a process validation instead of choosing an arbitrary extra digit.
