01Keep the time base consistent
Synchronize relevant instruments and controllers sufficiently for the diagnostic task. Record sampling intervals, time zone and gaps. If pressure and quality traces are shifted relative to each other, a real sequence can be misread as cause and effect.
02Mark invalid conditions
Identify calibration periods, sensor faults, maintenance and missing communications. Do not silently replace those values with ordinary-looking readings. Preserve raw data and document any processing used for reports or averages.
03Connect data with decisions
Keep alarm events, quality-release actions and changes in operating conditions alongside the trends. Assign equipment and instrument identifiers so the record can be traced later. An exported chart without its underlying timestamps and status flags is limited evidence for resolving a quality dispute.
