What to check when filter differential pressure rises

A pressure-loss trend needs flow and service context.

01Normalize the observation

Differential pressure changes with flow as well as element condition. Compare readings at similar operating rates and record both upstream and downstream pressures. A high reading during an exceptional peak cannot be interpreted in the same way as a gradual rise at steady load.

02Investigate the cause

Review service age, condensate behaviour and recent contamination events. Check the manufacturer's element-change criteria and the accuracy of the differential-pressure indicator. A sudden change after maintenance may deserve an installation review rather than an assumption of normal fouling.

03Avoid a bypass shortcut

Removing or bypassing treatment can expose the separation package to unsuitable air. Arrange service through the approved isolation procedure and verify the intended treatment configuration afterward. Keep the pressure-loss improvement alongside the inlet-quality checks so lower resistance is not mistaken for adequate filtration.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
