Preparing a long-idle gas system for return to service

Treat storage history as a commissioning input.

01Reconstruct the history

Record how long the equipment was idle, its preservation measures and any exposure to moisture, dust or temperature extremes. Identify parts or utilities that were disconnected. Missing preservation records should remain an uncertainty for the service review, not be replaced by an assumption.

02Arrange the appropriate assessment

Use the manufacturer's restart requirements and qualified personnel. Review pressure-system status, electrical condition, treatment equipment and instruments within their applicable inspection responsibilities. Expired calibration or inspection evidence may need attention even if the machine was not operating.

03Verify the actual output

Follow the approved startup and quality-release process. Observe inlet conditions, cycle behaviour and sustained product quality before normal use. Keep the restart findings as a new baseline and schedule follow-up where the supplier identifies residual concerns.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
