Why oil vapour needs a separate treatment discussion

An aerosol filter and a vapour adsorber solve different problems.

01Recognize the phase difference

Oil can reach compressed-air treatment as droplets, aerosol or vapour. A filter suited to liquid aerosols does not by itself establish control of the vapour fraction. The generator inlet specification should make clear which forms and total contamination limits matter.

02Review temperature and loading

Vapour-treatment capacity depends on the selected medium and its operating conditions. Ask what feed temperature, contaminant loading and upstream protection the supplier assumes. A change in compressor operation can invalidate a service interval based on a lower original load.

03Plan evidence of continued performance

Use the manufacturer's monitoring and replacement strategy, supported by appropriate air-quality checks where required. A low pressure drop does not prove that an adsorbent still has useful vapour capacity. Record the media installation date, operating history and any contamination incident.

Apply this guidance with the equipment manual, actual site conditions and applicable requirements. Design, operation and maintenance decisions need appropriately qualified personnel. Confirmed product documents govern a specific equipment supply.
